Lake Champlain Research Conference 2022
Stone will attend the Lake Champlain Research Conference, May 23 - 24 at the Hilton Burlington in Burlington, Vermont. The conference will bring together lake and watershed stakeholders, including researchers, management practitioners, and the public, to learn about the state of research on Lake Champlain and to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Clean Water Act. The conference will feature participation and research from New York, Vermont, Québec, and beyond, providing an opportunity for discussion, networking, and collaboration across Lake Champlain’s multi-jurisdictional watershed.
Stone Senior Environmental Modeler Jody Stryker, Ph.D., will present on the Functioning Floodplain Initiative (FFI), in which the Vermont DEC and partners develop methods and mapping applications to identify high-priority projects to restore and protect stream, wetland, and floodplain functions. Stryker will present "The FFI Web Application – Translating Research Outcomes into Project Planning, Implementation, and Tracking of River and Floodplain Reconnection." Stone will participate as part of a large project team offering a number of presentations by project team members and other researchers focused on various aspects of the FFI.
