Kids MapVenture website launched

Nov 18, 2024

Stone has created a GIS tool just for kids!

The same team that brought you the reimagined New York Geographic Information Gateway website has been hard at work on a version for children. Stone helped the New York Department of State create Kids MapVenture, a website for students in grades 3-6 to learn about geography using fun, interactive activities. Like the grownups’ site, Kids MapVenture uses Esri’s ArcGIS Hub, ArcGIS Instant Apps, ArcGIS StoryMaps, and Experience Builder to bring alive interactive lessons and content for kids and educators to use in the classroom and at home.

Stone UX/UI Designer Kirsten Nielsen led user research to inform the website design. Direct feedback from users inspired content like the State Mammal story map with an embedded Experience Builder. We understand that geography is incredibly important for understanding the world and solving problems and are excited to share GIS with kids!
