Pelletier Dam Removal and Engineering Design
The Vermont Natural Resources Council hired Stone in 2018 to provide engineering and design services for the removal of the Pelletier Dam, located along North Breton Brook in Castleton, Vermont. The Pelletier Dam was among several high priority projects identified as part of the Vermont Dam Removal Initiative—a collaborative effort funded by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and led by the VNRC and the Vermont Chapter of the Nature Conservancy (TNC) to improve aquatic connectivity throughout the Lake Champlain watershed through identification and removal of dams that no longer serve a useful purpose.
