Stream Scientist Ben Matthews joins Stone team
We're happy to announce that Ben Matthews, an aquatic scientist with outstanding knowledge of watershed restoration, flood mitigation, and riverine ecosystems, has joined our team as a Senior River Scientist.
Ben, most recently a River Management Engineer for the State of Vermont, will support our flood resiliency and watershed rehabilitation efforts, providing technical expertise and knowledge of planning, business development, funding acquisition, permitting, and public outreach for a range of projects involving flood hydraulics, bridge and culvert design, dam removal, and restoration and remediation of rivers and streams. He worked for the state through three historic flood events, giving him a deep understanding of the challenges our riverside communities face.
“We are extremely excited to add Ben’s technical expertise and knowledge of Vermont’s rivers and watersheds to our growing team of professionals working to improve flood resiliency, water quality, and aquatic organism passage,” said Peter Lazorchak, service line leader for Stone’s Water Resource Management group.
