Vermont Wild Bee Survey
Senior Ecologist Leif Richardson is working with the University of Vermont Gund Institute for the Environment, Vermont Center for Ecostudies, and Vermont Fish & Wildlife to plan and conduct the Vermont Wild Bee Survey (VTBees) project, a "first step in assessing bee populations across Vermont."
According to the VTBees page, despite there being an estimated 250 species of wild bees in the state, a full survey of Vermont bees has never been carried out. Without this vital information, gauging the status of our bee population is increasingly challenging.
